Diversity and Cultural Resources
Disabled student resources
The Office of Disabled Student Resources and Services (DSRS) at WMU is committed to assisting students with disabling conditions in their pursuit of educational and career goals, as well as personal development. DSRS services include:
  • Class scheduling assistance and priority registration
  • Academic adjustments/accommodations
  • Campus and community liaison, referral and advocacy services
  • Campus accessibility information
  • Access to adaptive computer equipment
  • Handi-Van transportation
Faith and spiritual development
Kanley Chapel is a public inter-faith facility located at the heart of the WMU campus. The chapel represents the University's dedication and encouragement of personal and spiritual development. Kanley Chapel amenities include:
  • Hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. except during holidays
  • Facilities with two reception rooms
  • Seating for 300
  • Chapel rental for special events
International programming
The International Programs Council (IPC) is a student organization dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding at Western Michigan University. The council organizes campus events, hosts social activities, and provides members with a rich intercultural experience.

Lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgender issues
The office of Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, and Transgender (LBGT) Student Services promotes a campus climate that affirms the academic and personal development of all students. LBGT focuses on activities that provide:
  • Support to students who face discrimination due to their sexual orientation or gender identity
  • Education to the WMU community
  • Student access to health resources, activities, and support services
Multicultural affairs
The Division of Multicultural Affairs serves as an information resource on the role and value of diversity in education for WMU, and for the greater Kalamazoo communities. The unit focuses on activities such as providing:
  • Events and programs that promote cultural awareness
  • Support for student organizations
  • Networking opportunities
  • Mentor and peer mentor programs
  • Academic tutor referrals
  • Academic progress monitoring
  • Employment and internships
